Baby Baths
Planning ahead for your baby’s bath will make things less hectic on you and make bathing a much better experience for your baby. You must always keep in mind that babies get scalded quite easily so you should always fill the sink or tub with warm water before you put your baby inside. Remember to always test the water with either your wrist or elbow. These areas are more sensitive than your hands, and will help you determine if the water is too hot for an infant.
The water should be comfortably warm, not too hot, and not too cold either.
If you can comfortably hold your wrist or elbow under the water without pulling back, the water should be fine for your baby. It would be a good idea to ensure that you have everything you need for your baby’s bath beforehand. Some good things to keep in a box beside the sink or tub where you wash your baby would include; a mild soap, a few cotton balls, soft towels, clean diapers, and any ointment or powder you normally use on your baby.
Remember to never leave your baby unattended in the water. If the doorbell or phone rings, do not answer it until your baby is out of the water, warm, and safe. You may even want to set up a regular bath time for your baby and let your friends and relatives know not to call at that time because it is your baby’s bath time.
