For the nursing Mum a ‘nursing pillow’ is a great addition and will help make Mum comfortable while feeding. A breast bump is good to have on hand for those times when Mum is unavailable, needs a break or for the ability of others to also be able to feed the infant. There is even a type of vest now available that holds the bottle and gives fathers and others the ability to feed the child while simulating a mother nursing. When bottles are to be used it is very important to make sure they are BPA free which has been linked to cancer in some studies. It is better to be safe tan sorry and there are many BPA FREE products on the market. It is also a good idea to have baby formula available, whether breast feeding or not.
These days most parents opt out of buying the traditional high chair and instead select a ‘booster’ seat. These are just as efficient and cost a lot less than a high chair, take up a whole lot less room and can easily be taken with you as needed.
You will also need a good diaper bag to tote all of baby’s accessories when going out. As well as a suitable car seat that is age appropriate and industry accepted.
Clothing necessities;
For the first few months the best choice are one piece outfits. They are easy to put on and are great for changing the baby with ease. Plenty of bibs will eliminate the need for clothing changes during the day as the baby drools.
Shoes are not really a necessity in the early months, but be sure to have plenty of warm booties and socks on hand as well as any appropriate items as needed for your climate.
A baby’s tender sink is very sensitive and it is best to use a mild detergent, free of chemicals when laundering infant apparel
